In August 2009 Gud found out he had cancer of the liver and in January 2010 that they could do nothing to get rid of it or make him better,Even though he was poorly he still put everyone first and tried his best to to keep making everyone laugh and smile with his jokes and stories.After being rushed into hospital in the early hours of Wednesday 7th July 2010 after having 2 heart attacks with flo by his side Gud sadly passed away. On Wednesday 14th July 2010 Gud was taken in a glass carriage being driven by 2 black horses to St Bartholomews Church,he was carried into church by his granddaughter Emma,her partner Mark and 3 grandsons David,Damion,Dean.Gud entered the church to one of his favorite songs-OLD SHEP and was carried out of church to another of his favorite songs-OLD RUGGED CROSS. Gud was then taken through the village he had lived and worked all his life to his final resting place in Maltby Cemetary,Grange Lane.
